Tango Extremo
This ensemble which is under the direction of the young violinist Tanya Schaap is not a standard tango orchestra. The line up is unusual (with soprano saxophone) and the music is not standard tango music as we are used to. De group uses styles which are very diverse (a mixture of classical, jazz and Brazilian) but of course, the starting point remains tango.
Nueva Manteca
The founder of Nueva Manteca is Jan L. Hartong who started the band in 1983. In the 90′s, journalist Raul Rico of the authoritative Latin Beat Magazine, praised the group as “Europe’s finest in Latin Jazz”. Many have followed him over the years, and not without reason. The group belongs to the top of the Latin scene as can be judged from USA radio playlists which regularly show a top ranking position for Nueva Manteca’s CD’s
Ben van den Dungen
He has been in the jazz scene for some years. He made so far 60 albums and played around 4000 concerts. Mostly he is known from the European most famous Latin-Jazz formation; “Nueva Manteca”. Also he is proffesor at the Jazz department of the academy of music in Rotterdam, ‘Codarts’.
Motion Unlimited
Motion Unlimited is an ambitious project combining a large number of musicians as well as video artists. This multimedia ensemble is a feast for the enses, bringing together prepared imagery with the performance by the players. The group combines music drawn from all corners: pop, rock and jazz with symphonic elements. Although they do not have a set direction, Motion Unlimited is a coherent group possessing a clear sound of its own.
